Financial assistance with fees is available through the Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR), both available from the Family Assistance Office (FAO).
Child Care Benefit (CCB)
You are eligible for Child Care Benefit if you are a parent, foster parent or grandparent with a child in your care who is attending child care services approved by, or registered with, the Government. CCB is paid directly to the centre to reduce your daily fees or may be applied for as a lump sum at the end of the financial year.
Eligibility for Child Care Benefit:
- you have a child in your care who meets the immunisation requirements (or have an exemption)
- you meet residency requirements (or have an exemption)
- your child attends approved or registered care and you have the liability to pay for the cost of your child care
- you meet the income test
Child Care Rebate (CCR)
The Child Care Rebate helps working families with the cost of child care. The Child Care Rebate covers 50 per cent of out-of-pocket child care expenses for approved child care, with a rebate of up to $7,500 (indexed) per child per year, for eligible families.
Requirements for Child Care Rebate:
- used approved child care during the year;
- been eligible for Child Care Benefit (entitled at a rate of zero or more).
- passed the Child Care Benefit work, training, study test (for the purposes of the rebate).
